A relaxed countryside escape to celebrate before the big day.

Luxury glamping cabins for a countryside hen weekend in Bedfordshire

If I had my hen weekend all over again…

If I had my hen weekend all over again, I’d keep it simple. I’d invite my closest girl friends to escape to the countryside and book us in for a couple of nights of luxury glamping.

Hen weekends don’t have to mean busy bars, late nights and sore feet the next morning. Sometimes the best celebrations are the ones where everyone has time to properly catch up before the wedding.

That sounds far more like my kind of weekend.

Time spent outdoors. Long walks through the countryside. Coffee on the decking in your pyjamas. Evenings around the fire pit. A glass of fizz in the hot tub. Plenty of laughter, good food and nowhere else to be.

Sit. Chat. Cook. Eat. Walk. Laugh. Relax.

Then do it all again the next day.

Personally, I’d happily swap high heels for wellies if it meant a long evening sitting around a fire pit beneath the stars.

Why glamping makes the perfect hen weekend

Packing for a relaxing hen weekend glamping stay at The Meadows at Polehanger

One of the nicest things about a glamping hen weekend is how little you actually need to plan.

There’s no pressure to dress up unless you want to. No taxis to organise. No rushing from one venue to another. Instead, you can settle into your cabin, unpack and enjoy spending time together.

Your packing list becomes refreshingly simple.

  • Your favourite pyjamas (matching ones are always fun!)
  • Wellies, just in case.
  • A cosy jumper for cooler evenings around the fire pit.
  • Shorts and an oversized tee for breakfast outside.
  • A sundress and sandals if the sun decides to make an appearance.

The best weekends are often the simplest ones.

If it were me… I’d spend less time worrying about what to wear and more time deciding who’s bringing the breakfast pastries.

Make it your own

Every hen weekend is different, and that’s exactly how it should be.

Some groups arrive with a full itinerary, while others are simply looking for somewhere beautiful to relax and spend quality time together before the wedding. The Meadows is perfect for both.

Whether you’re celebrating with four friends or booking several cabins for a larger group, you’ll have plenty of space to gather, laugh and enjoy the countryside at your own pace.

Many groups choose to book more than one cabin, creating their own countryside retreat for the weekend, while still enjoying the privacy and comfort of having your own space to come back to at the end of the day.

And because you’re staying in luxury cabins rather than hotel rooms, everyone naturally ends up together. Morning coffees become long chats on the decking, afternoons drift into evening drinks, and before you know it you’re all gathered around the fire pit wondering where the day went.

After all, this weekend is about celebrating the bride-to-be and giving her the chance to slow down, laugh with her favourite people and enjoy every moment before the excitement of the wedding begins.

The best conversations happen when you lose track of time.

A hen weekend banquet to remember

Private dining celebration at The Barns at Polehanger

If there’s one thing I’d definitely include, it’s a proper celebration meal.

Imagine one long table in the mown meadow, candles flickering, delicious food prepared by your own private chef and everyone raising a glass to the bride-to-be. We have tables you can use to create your own special setting.

After dinner, wander over to the fire pit, pour another drink, put on your favourite playlist and let the evening unfold naturally.

It’s relaxed, intimate and so very memorable.

I’d be quite happy to enjoy one more hour chatting around the fire pit than be in a noisy bar for that one last cocktail in the city.

Luxury cabins designed for slowing down

Back at your cabin, the celebrations don’t need to end.

Some of our luxury cabins feature private wood-fired hot tubs, perfect for unwinding beneath a sky full of stars after a day spent exploring or celebrating.

Cook together. Toast marshmallows over the fire pit. Play fun games. Watch the sunset across the meadow. Or simply sit outside wrapped in a blanket listening to the sounds of nature.

And yes… I’d definitely be the first one in the hot tub!

I’d take that over queueing for a nightclub any day.

Before the wedding take time to relax

Weddings can become wonderfully busy.

That’s why your hen weekend can be the perfect opportunity to pause for a moment and enjoy the company of the people who matter most.

Sharing food.

Watching the sunset.

Laughing around the fire pit.

Enjoying breakfast together outdoors.

Taking photographs you’ll look back on for years.

The most memorable celebrations aren’t necessarily the loudest ones.

They’re the ones where everyone leaves feeling relaxed, connected and grateful they had the chance to spend so much time together.

Because sometimes the best hen weekends aren’t about how much you fit into them…

They’re about the people you spend them with.

And that’s exactly what The Meadows at Polehanger does best.
